Coming of Age in War-Torn Guam: The WWII Memoirs of Justo Torre Leon Guerrero
The story of Justo Torre Leon Guerrero, who survived the WWII invasion, occupation and liberation of his island home of Guam by the Japanese. This 116 page, full color, hardbound book recounts the experiences of a twelve-year-old Chamorro adolescent through his transition to a war-worn teenager of 15 years-old. His experiences during this impressionable time of his life impacted the choices he made in later life. At 91 years of age, he has made his story public so that future generations can learn about the reality of war from a first-hand account. Illustrated with 12 original images by local artistic icon Judy Selk Flores with contributions by Ric Castro and Odyessa San Nicolas. This book also contains historical images from Guam during WWII.
